  2. i visited oahu a couple months ago and stayed near kaneohe which is on the windward side of the island... so i know it's not honolulu, but i paid something around $5-$6 for a regular sized box of cereal. from what i saw, everything seemed to be at least a buck or two more expensive than it is on the mainland.

  3. I don't think the chain stores' sale prices really reflect what you'd likely pay there.  Last time I visited my folks on the big island, I paid half again as much for groceries as I did in central NY--about 250/week for a family of 4.  

    Have fun, and be sure to try some local favorites.  I'm seriously craving spam musubi.  

  4. Milk is 5.50 a gallon

    butter is 2.50 a lb

    and bread is like 3.50 a loaf

    everything is so much more expensive there
