Honorable Guest will vie for his second career victory in the Frost King Stakes
The 2-year-old chestnut colt, Honorable Guest, will be looking to bounce back from his second place finish in the Bull Page Stakes at Woodbine in the $125,000 Frost King Stakes also at Woodbine race course on 7 November, 2012.
On 8 October, 2012, G. G. Racing Stable’s Honorable Guest over a distance of six furlongs on Woodbine’s All Weather track settled off the pace, and stalked the leaders in a eight-horse field, but made an all out bid for the wire on the far turn and angled out a late turn.
It was a hustle from Honorable Guest in the stretch, but even with an all out finish, the son of Old Forester couldn’t finish on top, as he was fended off by winner, Double McTwist.
Only the sixth place finisher in the Bull Page Stakes, Jade Dragon, will be running in the Frost King Stakes along with Honorable Guest.
Trained by Mark E. Casse, Honorable Guest finished second in his first three races, including two stakes races, but he was demoted to fifth in the Colin Stakes on 14 July, but bounced back to win his first maiden special weight at second asking on 11 August at Woodbine.
However, in the Simcoe Stakes, Honorable Guest had a close call, as he was on the verge of his second career victory. Graduates from the local yearling sales, Honorable Guest rounding off the turn went all out for the lead, and got it for the most part of the stretch, but a heartbreak as it was, he got nailed by stable mate, Dynamic Sky.
Dynamic Sky went on to finish second in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Futurity at Keeneland in his subsequent start.
Out of Kinshasa mare Whoda Guest, Honorable Guest is laying over the Frost King field, and might end up with his second career victory this time around.
“He’s really talented,” Casse said. “We thought from the beginning, when we had him early on in Ocala, that he was a really nice horse. So far, he’s lived up to that. He’s very professional, a beautiful-moving horse. If you looked at him, he sure wouldn’t stand out in a crowd, but if you watch him go, he would.”
