  1. if you feed it to your horse it is just making expensive feed but if u put it on the hoof normally it works

  2. you might wanna try some horssheors secret and if you dont wanna i would call ur vet to ask what to use im sure he/she will know what to do

  3. It takes almost a year for their hoof to grow completely out,

so it takes  almost a year to see results.  If the crack starts from the top of the hoof down than he my have a injury.  I found the best for my horse, is a good farrier.  They should trim short the part of the hoof that is cracked & the hoof thats putting pressure causing the crack to continue.  Or another way of putting it, leaving the hoof longer on part of the hoof that will support the cracked area so to allow the hoof wall to heal.  If its bad enough put shoes on him and still use this technique on hoof.  Some horses will seem to have 1/4 cracks no matter what you do.  Also known as pasture cracks.

    Good luck!

  4. What he needs is a good balanced barefoot trim and time.  If he has a good balanced diet, supplements will not help.  The part of the hoof that is poor quality was grown a long time ago and just has to grow off.  I woudn't put anything on his feet.  He needs to have his feet as dry as possible.  Just give him time, good trimming, and he can grow a new foot in about a year.  If you ride him, use Epic EASy boots with a gator to protect his feet if you need to.    Good luck with your horse..

  5. There was an excellent artical in USDF magazine that states feeding hoof supplements to your horse does NOTHING. Nutrients are absorbed in pairs. Vitamin D is fat soluable so eating a ton of Vitamin D and no fat is useless. The nutrients need to be dosed in pairs. Stop wasting your money.

Your horse needs to be in wetter footing. His hooves are cracking because they are dry. Most hoof dressing products "seal moisture in". If there is no moisture in the foot to start with then all it's doing is blocking moisture out. You need to find something that will moisturize the hooves.

There is no conflict between a topical dressing and internal supplement.

Have you talked to your farrier about this?

  6. hey-- my horse has a problem like   that too. this answer may seem stupid but ill try my best to help with your question. We have a farrier come and shoe our horse. it helps if your put this blue gooey stuff in.. ( your farrier will know what your talking about even if you say "blue gooey stuff" lol. ) rubber floors in your stall will help alot too. its way eaiser on the horse. keep feeding a good suppliment to help with the hooves. i would deffinatly get the horse shoed if he is not already. and just talk to your farrier and see if theres anything else you can do.. i hope that little bit is of use to you. thanks!

ADDED** good, thick bedding should help a little too

  7. rainmaker is a sealent, it seals out all moisture and your horse needs moisture from wat it sounds like...go to http://www.doversaddlery.com and get the horseshoer's secret hoof CONDITIONER and just apply regulary but not too much cuz u dont want soft hooves

  8. What does your farrier say? Sounds to me like your horse needs shoes. It takes at least 6 months for a crack to heal.

I see no problem with using both the Dumor supplement and RainMaker. You could save money, though, and use Pine Tar on his hooves.

    Ask your farrier first, though.
