Hoof It all for the Nunthorpe Stakes, as connections leave it late to confirm the York race
It seems as if Michael Easterby trained 4 yr old bay gelding, Hoof It is all set for the Group 1, £240,000 Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes, with punters already showing immense faith in the sprinter, the 19 August racing spectacle will unfold many surprises.
Among the long list of probable’s for the Nunthorpe Stakes, Hoof It is the general favourite for the race at 4 to 1.
The bay gelding is coming off an excellent run at the Glorious Goodwood on 30 July, 2011, when he participated in the Blue Square Stewards’ Cup.
Hoof It won the race by 2 ½ lengths, in a massive field of 26 other horses competing to nail the distance of six furlongs, good to firm.
Prior to the Stewards’ Cup, the gelding won the Sky Bet Dash, so he was in magnificent touch, and under jockey Kieren Fallon, Hoof It was travelling strongly in the centre of the massive group of 26 horses at the Goodwood race course.
They led 1 furlong out and did not look back after that as they rode readily to a massive win for trainer Michael Easterby and owners, A Chandler and L Westwood.
The fresh victory in the Stewards’ Cup over the weekend is still fresh in the punters’ minds, and because of that impressive performance they are heavily favouring the gelding for the six furlong Nunthorpe Stakes.
The connections have revealed, despite the rising hype that the York race will be a late decision and it does not come as a surprise, as all of the other trainers are leaving it till late.
His connections revealed the intention is to run, but one race after the other wouldn’t be much of a point if the horse gets ill or lame, so the decision will come from Haydock where they will decide for the gelding’s immediate future.
Hoof It’s Glorious Goodwood performances are visually impressive, and punters are going to stand him in good stead before the Nunthorpe Stakes, which would make the decision to avoid the meet all so difficult, if there is such a plan.
Hoof It has had four races in the year 2011, with winning 3 out of 4, the one loss was an embarrassment as Hoof It finished a disappointing seventh at Ascot, seven lengths behind the winner Deacon Blues.
The second favourite for the Nunthorpe Stakes is the 4 yr old bay gelding called Sole Power. He will be sent at 6 to 1 ahead of the race, he is trained by Edward Lynam.
Sole Power will work out a training session at Tipperary on 5 August, 2011.
He seems to be doing well and can create an upset as he did in the last year 100 to 1 shocker.
