Hook camcorder up to pc?

i have a canon camera and cant transfer videos to my computer it came with a usb but i can only transfer pictures not videos

  1. Try using a PC CD-ROM supplied with your camcorder.


  2. If it is indeed a camera as you say, and not a camcorder, then look in the same spot on the camera directory as where the pictures are located. They will be different files than the pictures possibly .mp4 or .mov format, but they will most likely be in the same folder as the pictures. This is all with the same USB cable.

  3. It sounds like you've got a MiniDV camcorder, in which case you'll need to capture the video via firewire rather than USB - if your PC hasn't already got one you'll need to install a firewire card. They're cheap, easy to install and readily available. You'll also need a firewire cable.  Once everything's connected you can capture and edit the video with Windows Movie Maker (it should already be on your PC).
