Hooke's law..sping experiment..??

ok...so we did this experiment with springs.

dat we attach a weight to a spring n measure how much it expands...and so on and so forth..

i wanna noe...dat wen the spring is expanded or compressed..does it form poteninal energy or kinetic energy..n wen it goes bak to its normal position..does it form poteninal energy or kinetic energy..??

plzzzzzzzzzz help...

  1. The spring has both potential and kinetic. Potential energy=-1/2kx^2. Kinetic=1/2mv^2. Kinetic comes from when the spring is moving (ie velocity is non-zero.)
