How do I connect my TV up to my reciever and have the audio go to my reciever instead of going thruough my TV... I hooked up the red/white audio cables to my reciever from my TV, but nothing. I tried it with my DVD player, and the DVD surround sound works. Basically, how do I transfer audio signals from my TV to reciever ??? Thanks..

  1. You really only want to hook up your tv to a receiver if you dont have a cable box.  If you do and this is also how you should hook up your dvd player you should use a digital coax or optical connection so you can get true digital surround sound.  If you arent using a cable box and your cable feed is running straight to the tv then you need to hook up the red and white wires to the audio output.  You need to make sure they say output and not input.  Once you do that then you need to go into the setup menu of the tv and under the sound settings there should be an option to turn on the audio jacks or you just need to turn off the tv speakers and that will activate it. Also you want to set the audio to fixed if it will allow you if not turn the volume up about 3/4 of the way up on the tv and leave it there.
