Hooking one vista computer to another

Im trying to transfer a large set of files from my laptop to my desktop with an ethernet cord, how do i do this i can find my desktop. both computers are running vista

It is possible, however, you cannot use a regualr ethernet cable you have to use a crossover cable that is wired a little bit differently so that the two computers can talk to each other.

You can find a crossover cable at most stores that sell computer supplies.

try remote desktop-ing or ssh'ing
