Hooking up DVD player to LG HDTV?

I have hooked the DVD player up to the TV, but I can't get a picture, just snow. Do I have to turn off the DVR (I have DIrecTV), and if I do that, how do I get the DVD player to work using my TV Remote (not the DirecTV/DVR remote)?

  1. DVD Player should have:

    S-Video (round with 4-5 pins)

Component Video (three colors red, blue, green)

    Composite Video (yellow)

    HDMI (one slot)

Now the DVD Player has nothing to do with directV tuner. So you should have some video ports on the rear. Match the port to what you have on the rear of the DVD Player to your HDTV.

DVD Player should have it's own remote, but if you want to use LG remote it has to be universal and it has to be able to be programed or have learning features. If it doesn't then you need to go and buy a universal remote control, that supports your LG, DVD Player and DirectTV Tuner with DVR.

Note sometimes you can't get one that supports everything then you need one that can be programmed or have learning features.

  2. Hey kiddo, you've got the right idea.  The DVD remote may have a tv/dvd button so that might have to be pushed, but that will only take you from the dvd player to the tv.

Now you need the dvr or tv remote.  Your cable antenna takes up one spot but the dvd goes into another.  Just keep pushing the tv/dvd button until you find your show!!!
