Hooking up Tivo Series 2 with Comast cable?

I have a Tivo 2 and I am trying to hook it up with my comcast service. i have the cables in and can retrieve the tivo info, but when setting up it does not detect my phone line, even though i have it plugged into the phone line. can anyone offer some suggestions or a site that offers visuals. comcast does not help. Thanks!

2 things.  If you have a broadband connection through comcast you should use that instead, you need to get a usb ethernet [or wireless] thing for that.

If you want to use phone line, it has to be a POTS line, not voip [ie. comcast digital voice, vonage, etc].  If your using broadband the phone wire isn't required.

Are you wired or wireless?  If wired, be sure in setup you indicated serial cable.

Try rebooting Tivo.
