Question:

Hooking up a DVD player to a TV with a cable box.?

For some reason I am having trouble hooking up my new DVD player. When I click on and play on the DVD I see it's running (the time of the tapeplay moving along) but nothing happens on the tv. The same tv channel is still tuned.

I have a DVD Player. Television. And Cable Box. Should be pretty easy I think.

What I've done is that I've hooked the red/white/yellow cables to the "Out" portion of the DVD player and into the "Video 1 Input" portion in the tv. Do I need to connect something to the cable box as well?

  1. You have to tell the tv that you want to watch whatever is connected to  the video 1 input.

Some sets have a button on the remote control marked INPUT or SOURCE. If it's not on the remote, see if there's a button on the front of the tv.

If no button, you may have to access a menu to change the source to video 1.

Some tv sets have video 1 designated as one channel number higher than the highest channel available. If the highest channel your tv can pick up 1s 70 (for example), video 1 might be assigned to channel 71.

    Good luck
