My friend wants to know how you can print from a laptop to a printer wirelessly. She says she has Fly hi wireless internet service. She has a desktop and a laptop but the printer is with the desktop, and wants to be able to print from her laptop wirelessly. Can anyone help.

Also, if you have dsl, how would you print wirelessly also.

  1. Though it is perfectly natural for printers and laptops to "hook up", without a physical relationship it is unlikely for this to occur even with good chemistry.

  2. Either she gets a network printer that hooks directly to the router, or she uses the desktop as a print server and prints through it.

To leave the printer attached to the desktop, she has to set up a network that includes the desktop and the laptop (they must have the same workgroup name).  Enable file and print sharing on the desktop.  Mark the printer as shared.  Then the laptop can see the desktop and the printer.  Install the printer on the laptop, calling it a network printer, not a local printer.  As long as the desktop is on, she can print to its printer from the laptop.

If the two computers run different operating systems, there are some additional steps.
