Question:

Hooking up an Mp3 Player to Chevrolet Factory Stereo?

I have a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with a factory stereo in it. Let me cover this first & foremost, I do not want to replace the factory system with an aftermarket system.

My factory stereo has an Auxiliary button of the front of the stereo and I have a wire (RCA jacks to 3.5mm) that I wanted to hook up to the back of the stereo so that I could have a hard-wire hooked into my mp3 player instead of an FM-Transmitter so that there would be no static involved. However, I pulled the stereo out and there were no places to plug in any RCA jacks. Can someone help me out and let me know what to do.

I've looked over the internet for some type of an adapter so that I could hook the wire into my stereo and yet have found nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  1. go to this site http://www.crutchfield.com/,under "shop" on the left hand side, highlight "car audio and video" and click on "outfit my car" then put in your cars info- it will show you all the accessories that you will need for what you are trying to accomplish

  2. I had the exact same problem in my 2001 Chevy express van...I used one of those tapes that you put in the tape deck that is used to connect one of those portable cd players. I just slipped the tape into the tape deck and plugged the other end into my mp3. It worked perfectly fine. You can usually find those tapes at the dollar store.
