Hooking up linksys with comcast?

i want to hook up a linsys router with my comcast internet becuase it is wired and i want to get wireless internet, but ive been reading that its impossible/ really hard to do... question: is it really that hard or impossible? im not much of a computer genious

  1. Very easy.

    Just plug the modem into the modem port on the linksys router with an ethernet cable. No CD or setup needed.


  2. I do not have Comcast internet service. I do know that Comcast says they can "install your Internet connection and your wireless home networking system in no time at all" and "If you need a wireless router or cable modem, we can also supply you with that equipment.".

    This indicates to me that hooking up your own router is indeed possible.

    It could be "really hard to do", but probably will be more frustrating than anything because newbies really have to go step-by-step and write down everything.  see also

  3. I have used a linksys router with comcast without any difficulty.

    If you use the install CD that came with the router you should be fine - I set mine up on my own.

    Make sure you already have the wireless adapter installed.
