Question:

Hooking up my stereo speaker wires?

I seem to be having a brain f**t hooking up my speaker wires. I put the black wire in the little black holder and the red one in the little red holder. Some of the speakers had a black wire and a black wire with the white line. I put the white lined wire into red.

I can't get any sound output at all from any speaker from my TV or from the radio. I have the channel A/B thing selected to both and have tried either channel. Nothing. Am I missing something? Any tips on where I could be going wrong?

  1. With many receivers you can't have it set to A/B unless you have two sets of speakers connected.  Connect your speakers to the A speaker terminals and select just speaker A.

  2. Here are a couple of solutions to your problem.

Does your receiver have a mute button? See if it is engaged or not. make sure it is not engaged.

Have you tried changing modes  say from CD player to tuner to see if you can get sound from any source.

Also try to see if you have adequate bare wire in your connections to your receiver and to your speakers, maybe they are not making the proper connection.

Is it possible that you have blown a fuse in your speaker protection circuit in your receiver, therefore you will not get sound.

  3. make sure you have the correct audio input selected on your reciever. if that doesn't work make sure your tv dosen't have a alternate audio out option on the back or in the menu.

  4. Does your stereo have a tape monitor switch, and if so, could it be engaged?
