Hoon Thien How and Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif eye title in Indonesia Open Premier Super Series
Malaysian Men’s Doubles players, Hoon Thien How and Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif, are eyeing for the title in the 2011 Indonesia Open Premier Super Series, starting in Jakarta, from June 21, 2011.
The pair of Thien How and Mohd Zakry is currently ranked at the Number 28 position in the Men’s Doubles world rankings, which are conducted by the Badminton World Federation (BWF).
In the past, both shuttlers have been playing with different partners in Indonesia and were successful in performing well. However, this time, they have joined forces with each other to win glory for themselves ahead of the World Championships, which will
kick-off in London in August, 2011.
Mohd Zakry has many achievements in Indonesia with other partners, as he clinched the Men’s Doubles title at the Indonesia Open in 2008 with Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari. The duo also won their match in the 2008 Thomas Cup against China, which was also held
in Indonesia.
Mohd Zakry said, “I have never crashed out early in all the Open tournaments in Indonesia. There have been good results so far and hopefully, I can continue the good run with Thien How.”
He further added, “This time, though, it will be tougher. The Open is a Premier Super Series event and all the best players are taking part. On top of that, the Malaysians have been slapped with a tough draw. All of us are in the same quarter and may have
to take on each other.”
Thien How has never passed the semi-final stage in this event and he is now determined to bring better results from the Premier Super Series championship. He knows that a good show in this event will help the duo to perform well in the world meet, which
is just 46 days away.
Both, Thien How and Mohd Zakry, are in good shape as they do not have any injury at the moment. They need to gain momentum in the Indonesia Open, which will help them in playing better badminton and also earn them much needed ranking points for the 2012
Olympic Games, to be held in London, next year.
