Question:

Hooters: How do you feel about it?

I know some women will go with their men to Hooters and think nothing of it, and they are actually cool with it. There are some women who see it as objectifying women and degrading. How do you feel about it?

  1. I've never been since I am not a big fan of wings and bar food- but I would really like to see a similar concept restaurant with male servers. Maybe they could wear cute little shorts or bike pants and muscle tees.

  2. The way how hooters girls dress is not different from how girls dress in the summer. I'm fine with it.

But then again, I also went to strip clubs with my exes and guy friends and I was fine with it. It just depends on the person.

  3. being a L*****n and the fact that i have never been to one.i see no problem with hooters.they are not objectifying to women.they are just ****.men are stupid creatures who think with their peckers...i know i used to work at a bikini bar.i would clean up.for them its a fantasy's let them live it out and don't put them down for it.allot of women put themselves through college that way and then move on to better things.

  4. I think that if you serve good food then you don't need half naked women serving it to you.  The food will speak for itself.  I know a lot of men love this place, but ask yourself this question, "Would I want my daughter or wife working here & wearing this outfit?"

  5. It's a brilliant marketing gimmick; the scantily-clad waitresses distract you from the fact that the food is s__t. But it's still degrading to anyone even remotely connected with it.

  6. This question keeps cropping up.  There is obviously nothing wrong with admiring a woman's body if you do so respectfully.  However, ask yourself if this is the ONLY role you accept a woman in.  If hooters is 'harmless' then you will not be against those same women growing up as presidents, judges, professors, fighter pilots and doctors.  Most men who go to hooters see women as meat wallets with a short shelf life.

I wonder why so few people post questions about the rightness or wrongness of the people who frequent Hooters rather than the women working there.

  7. I have no feelings about Hooters.  We have lots of good restaurants in my city, so we have yet to visit the local Hooters.  As far as the women who work there go, they know what they are getting into.  They are paid for it, so they are not being objectified.  They are free to seek other employment, if they don't want men looking at them.

  8. I have never been to Hooters, but I have nothing against it. If anything, it is degrading to men. Women have so much power. All we have to do is wear a skimpy outfit and you give lots of money. How is that degrading?

  9. Good harmless fun. If some guys go WITH their wives, who is anyone else to say it's wrong?

  10. id go with my man it seems like good clean fun..but the funny thing is my bf will be the one to say its degrading ( i love my man muuuuaahhh!!!!i found me a rare jewel)

  11. I luv IT!

  12. They have great hot wings...

  13. My fiancee has gone with me and some friends to Hooters, and didn't really care about the servers one way or another. They are a bit suggestive (being extra friendly and flirtatious and flagrantly leaning over your table while taking your order), but they're just fishing for tips, like any other food service employee.

I feel that the servers don't have to work there if they don't like the uniforms, and the customers don't have to dine there if they don't like the uniforms. Both are free to walk out the door and go elsewhere.

That said, I didn't much care for the food, it wasn't anything special compared to other restaurants. But as Chris Rock once said, "No one goes to Hooters for wings".

  14. I've never been to Hooters, but I  love their motto: "delightfully tacky yet unrefined."

My only problem is that you have to look and act a certain way before they'll hire you. "There is no set requirement in order to be a nearly World Famous Hooters Girl! We look for the All-American Cheerleader / Surfer-Girl-Next-Door image to fill our restaurants. In other words...Very bubbly, outgoing personalities!"

That leaves out half the female population... I never smile, so I'm out. Anyway, it's no more degrading or objectifying than anything else that features beautiful women. They have so few career opportunities, after all ;->.

  15. I find it slightly degrading but it's their choice.

  16. Well I'm of the opinion their food blows. Sorry but I've eaten better chicken wings that I;ve picked up from the gas station.

The way they dress really doesn't bother as a female because in the end, it's the guy getting screwed over not me or any of the girls who work there. Throw on some short shorts, a tight, low cut top and act like an airhead for a little bit and guys will tip you in twenties. If a guy(s) can't see past the big rack and tight a** to realize they serve sub par food and mediocre service then who am I to tell them otherwise?

The only thing that really bothers me about the place is it's NOT a family restaurant but I see parents bring kids in there all the time. The fact that they DO dress the way they do creates a highly sexualized atmosphere. I've also seen parents of little girls buy the tiny hooters tank tops for their daughters. Consenting adults in a sexualized atmosphere is fine but sexualizing kids is wrong and disgusting.

  17. I'm actually trying to geta job there. Love the wings and the atmosphere is always really laid back.  I honestly could care less what they wear. I think the outfits are cute.

  18. i personally dont see a problem with going there. i mean i personally wouldnt work in a place like that because of the things that men (even women) may say and it is degrading to yourself. however going there to have a harmless meal is not a problem. the girls at the one around here are ugly, small chested and flat assed anyways

  19. I have a let live philosophy on it.  However you asked how I personally feel about it.  I personally hate the place and will not go there.  I hear the buffalo wings are terrible but that the men (and so is the rest of the food) go for the breast.  I just find any job that requires a women to interview by trying on a small outfit a little size-st. To me hooter girls are just above strippers and a lot below playboy bunnies.

I also have to agree with the girl somewhere above me who mentions people bringing their kids to this kind of establishment.  It is disgusting that a restraunt only a little above stripper is somewhere some idiots would bring their children to.

I do love how the women use the men for money and the men don't get any.  Its funny its like their gold-diggers who don't have to let the men touch them to get the money.  Still the men go back... Hmmm.
