Hoots Mon performs below par in Hit Or Bust Stakes at Swindon
Hoots Mon was likely to deliver a flawless performance in the Hit Or Bust Stakes, held at Swindon on Wednesday, May 9th. However, the black dog failed to live up to the expectations and finished fifth on the table.
The 480 metres Grade A2 event started at 21:22 GMT. Among the participants were: Hoots Mon, Baby Bubba, Glenside Pearl, Eruption, Color Card and Catunda Ramos. A cash prize of £95 was reserved for the winning hound.
Hoots Mon was heading the betting card with some good reason. At the start of this month, the black dog displayed an impeccable show in a similar race.
Hoots Mon’s kennel mate, Baby Bubba, was being considered as another major player. The black dog started off the proceedings as a last-time-out winner.
In a similar race on the second of May, Ace Hi Rumble’s son demonstrated a wonderful act, beating Liscrea Premier by one and a half lengths.
Glenside Pearl was another to consider. Although she came to this race after a few poor performances, the bookmakers were expecting her to do well.
Catunda Ramos’s chances were also bright. Prior to his participation in Wednesday’s Stakes, the black dog won three of the previous five races at Swindon. The latest of his victories came at the start of this month, when he defeated Vancouver Petra by ¾ a length.
The abovementioned hounds were expected to secure the top positions on the chart, but Eruption stunned them all. The black dog performed magnificently and clinched the top rank by a neck’s distance. D. Porter’s trainee covered the distance in just 29.55 seconds.
The November-09 son of Westmead Hawk ran on the rails exceptionally, attaining a decent lead at the second bend. Baby Bubba tried his best to trouble him, but the champion did not let anyone spoil his party.
Baby Bubba finished second in the list, whereas the third position went to Catunda Ramos. Both hounds did a fine job all the way through, but remained unlucky.
It was a huge setback for Hoots Mon’s fans, who were hoping for an excellent performance by the 5-2 favourite hound. Let’s see how he keeps his head high in the upcoming races.
