Hoover stinks of burning HELP !!!?

my brother dropped a bucket of water down thee carpet on the staircase. I then hoovered and water was spurting out of thee sides of the hoover. I showed my mum and she fixed it and left it , however i went to hoover the next day and my hoover was stinking of burning. I know that water and electricty dont mix but what should i do ? Do i still use it ? HELP ME!!!

  1. Put it out back in the heat and let it completely dry before trying to use it again.  You should not vacuum up water unless you have a wet/dry vac.  If the burning smell continues, flip it over.  The belt might be old and burning.  If that doesn't work, find a small vac shop and see if they can fix it.


  2. NO most definitely NOT - tell your mum that you need to have the hoover checked as not all is right, it needs to be serviced.

    Electricity and water definitely DO NOT MIX!!

    Best to fess up than turn your toes up - as in dead

  3. It is most likely the belt burning you smell. Running the vacuum over wet carpet made it slip and stretch. Replace the belt (cheap) and you are good to go.

    It would be a good idea to let it dry throughly before using it again^
