  1. They may ask you to take your pants off and put a sheet over you, or they will just push ur pants down to your pubic bone area, It is hard holding your bladder for such a long time, but at least you dont have a baby pushing on it the whole time. Good luck.

  2. They will probably do a transvaginal ultrasound when checking for ovarian cysts.. at least this is what my doctor told me..  It isnt that hard to hold it in.. How long do you have to drink the water? i.e, between 11.30-12.30 or what?

  3. if you really really cant hold it.. empty it just a bit.

  4. Yes I find it hard to hold my pee for that long! But that's mainly because when you're pregnant your bladder gets irritated which makes you need to pee more often.

But I know how you feel, about 4 years ago (when I wasn't pregnant!) I had to have a kidney ultrasound and hold my pee for about 2 hours. It was quite uncomfortable because they push down quite hard and you really have to concentrate to not wet yourself! I didn't have to take my clothes off, but I'm not sure with an ovarian scan. Good luck!!

  5. It is only two hours to hold it.  Drink half at 11.30 and the other half at 12.30  They should just just have you unbutton your pants and raise your shirt up to get to your belly.

  6. Yes they want you to have a full bladder because it pushes the uterus up more for better view (if the ultrasound is topical and not trans-vaginal). You will have to go very badly, but you can do it. They will allow you to use the restroom as soon as they are finished. Lucky for you, you do not have a growing uterus with a baby inside, so it may be a little less uncomfortable having such a full bladder. They may ask you to put on a gown they have (if they end up doing a trans-vaginal ultrasound), otherwise they may just unzip your pants a little and lift up your shirt for a topical exam. Good luck!

  7. I had one of these done. You can hold it that long just do alot of moving around!! LOL!!! :) I believe they go inside the v****a to do the sonogram to see the cysts.Atleast thats what they did with me before I had my surgery. Tey can get a better look that way!! :)

    Good Luck!!

  8. If you are NOT pregnant, and just going to have an ultrasound to look at your ovaries, it may be a vaginal (interior) ultrasound. I had to have this procedure a couple years back before I was pregnant. They will actually insert a wand into your v****a, and although not comfortable, it should not be painful. They do want you to have fluids in your bladder for this procedure. I followed their instructions with the water drinking/etc to the point of feeling like I was going to burst. By the time I was on the table, apparently I was "too full" and had to go use the bathroom a couple of times for them. So I wouldn't hold it until it is uncomfortable - just make sure that plenty of fluid remains in your bladder. As for the clothes issue, I personally had to change into a hospital gown because they needed full access to my girly parts. :)

However, if it is an exterior ultrasound, they will only press your wand into your belly and you just need pants or a skirt that pull down easily past your underwear line a couple of inches. Jeans might be a little difficult - knits are better. However, you should stay full clothed for that procedure.

Did they say whether or not it would be an interior or exterior ultrasound? I have had both types. From experience, they told me the same water-drinking-no-bathroom using directions when they were checking me for ovarian cysts (non-pregnant) and did a vaginal/interior ultrasound. Since then, I have become pregnant, I have not been given any of those instructions and just showed up as I was (and they kept the wand outside of my body).

If it IS an interior/vaginal ultrasound, it may be a little scary for you, but just try to keep your body relaxed and it will go much easier.

  9. well they dont want you to pee for at least an hour and half before you go for your ultra sound because they need your bladder to be full...I drunk a 20 oz(bottle of water) drink before I went in for my U/s and it was just fine and they will let you pee as soon as they get done doing what they need to do

  10. If your busting your busting and that's all there is to it....just keep on drinking the water. It will depend if you are having an internal ultrasound as to whether you will have to remove your clothes or not- don't worry it all painless and will be over before you know it and you can then go pee whenever you want. Good luck.
