Hoping to move from SYD to QLD... Advice/Help PLS!!?

Hey everyone,

I'm hoping to move from Sydney to Queensland in a few months and was hoping for some advice and/or help from others who have done the same, or any personal experiences would be great too!

I am looking to rent a home in Queensland, I have been looking at areas such as Gold Coast, Brisbane, Springfield Lakes etc... are these good areas? (ie. nice, clean areas that are lively and have all amenities etc.)

Also, for those of you that moved and rented rather then brought a home... how did you go about getting approved for a property??? Obviously I would not be able to go from Syd to Qld to attend inspections! And I will not have rental references from any one in Queensland!

This seems to be my biggest problem! ANY SUGGESTIONS OR IDEAS!?

I do not have any family in Queensland otherwise I could reside with them while looking for properties etc but obviously I can not do that due to having no family there...

I really do not know how to go about this!

Any ideas would be great!

  1. I recommend broadbeach on the gold coast, it is were I am right now (dad) and its warm nice beaches, good shops and heaps and heaps of stuff to do.

  2. Springfield Lakes is very nice, but I don't think they have got public transport in place yet. Forget the city of Brisbane and forget the ritzy Gold Coast unless you have plenty of cash to spend. You can always rent for awhile while you look as prices are starting to come down now in the housing real estate.

  3. Hi mate

Me and couple of my mates move from syd to qld.

I told my then new boss that I know nothing about qld so pls arrange accomodation for me and my family and they did it and it's over 3 years we are still living in the same house.

Another of our family friend move from syd to qld

They search house in the net

    www.realeastate.com.au  or something like that

see the photo's of the house on net talked to the agent

    and came to that house

    bring everything with removal

and after six month they moved to another place.

    Otherwise

you can come in brissy for one day before final move then rent house and go back.

there is another option for you

There are many home stay houses in brisbane and surrounding areas

You can jump in one of them

then move to your suitable place

  4. You may have no option but to stay in a motel for a few days.

go the real estate institute of queensland and look at rental properties.

I have been to Springfield Lakes and it looks very nice but if you want new I suggest Mango Hill/Griffin area.  Everything is new schools, high and primary, library, new shopping complex. everything you need.  Train is about 10 minutes away by car and train to city is about 35 to 40 mins. quicker by express. There is a bus service but not sure about time table.  Lots of young families.  Go to North Lakes or Northlakes on google earth and see this massave development.

Get out a map of Brisbane and follow the train line north.  The suberb of Carseldine to Petrie are nice areas.

There say there are not many rental properties to rent at the moment but I see them.

David Deane is one real estate agent, also Ray White and Petrie real estate to name a few on the northside.

This is only my personal opinion but I think the northside of Brisbane is not as fast paced as the Southside or Westside.

    Good luck.

  5. go stay in a hostel or caravan park, till you find a place to rent  up there.
