Hoping to move to UK under new tier 1 visa. Test awards Master's 35 points but only giving me 30?

They say they award 35 points for Master's degrees but when I take the online assessment test I only get 30 points. Why? I was hoping to use age, educational qualifications and past earnings so the 5 points makes a difference. I have a Bachelor's and Master's from American universities - is a British Master's different than an American Master's, thus causing the discrepancy?

30 points is for a Bachelor's degree.  The country does not matter if they are equivalent.  If you enter both degrees, then you have to select the Master's degree.  Unless the system does not give 35 points for your particular Master's degree.  It works when I put in a BS and MS for US degrees.  Make sure you put the correct course length etc. in.
