John Hopkins Signs With Kawasaki For 2008

American John Hopkins has reportedly signed a letter of intent with Kawasaki's MotoGP team for 2008. Hopkins had once professed that he wanted to spend his entire career with Suzuki--ala Kevin Schwantz--but that sentiment has seemingly passed.

This is a shock to the system! Might have to rethink that list I made the other day now.

Do you think this will be a good move? I dont. The Suzuki is really starting to shift now, the Kwack is still ...... a bit of a duck. ( yes I know it got front row last time out, but still no good in the race)

Your thoughts?

  1. Do I think its a good move? Financially yes, but in terms of the championship... we'll need to wait and see if the Kwacker actually needed a better rider.

Seems like this move was very heavily based on the highest payer. So, the performance of the Kwacker may not have been the biggest deciding factor in this deal.

  2. hopper is a definite talent. His has ridden the suzook so far over the edge he has hurt himself countless times. The kawi is a fast bike and with hopper on it things may look up for him and kawi. Just look what rossi did for the yami. But I will remind you that Mr. Stoner will hold the title this year

  3. ok... I have to say that this for me is a big disappointment! I can't really see John riding a kawasaki. The suzuki bike was made for him, he looked perfect on him and now he is moving just when everything was getting better for the team. I wonder what's going to happen with the old riders? I though they were keeping them all for the new season. I  hope they keep West.

So imagine. They start with a surprise like this, then what is next?...

  4. For real?  He's been doing really well on the Suzuki, this doesn't make much sense, so who is leaving Kwack I thought they had West and De Poinet, so which would leave?
