  1. i personally refuse to believe hopkins knocked him down.  it looked like a punch followed through with a shove.  that isn't a knock down.  hopkins cheats like a little b*tch, faking low blows, taking an unnecessarily long break over something he caused himself by pushing clazaghe down, even after asked repeatedly to not do so.  36 and 43 is not that big of an age difference for your question to be valid.  if calzaghe were 25 and hopkins 52, then i would say that would be shameful.  he got lucky with one punch, then proceeded to push him down to make it look like something it was not.

but to answer your irrelevant question, i would rather get "knocked down" by an "old man" then turn around and beat him, and make him eat his own words.

  2. Well, at the end of the day, what matters is if you got the win, so for this fight, I would have rather been Calzaghe because he is still undefeated and Hopkins got another loss on his record.  However, if you were to ask who I thought impressed me more that night, I would pick Hopkins because at the age of 43, he was able to make a competitive fight with a volume puncher like Calzaghe and he even put him down.  If this was a prime Hopkins, he would have won easily, but at this stage, Calzaghe's workrate was simply too much for him.  Hopkins is still considered the better fighter because everyone knows that he only lost because of his age, and his accomplishments outdo Calzaghe's any day of the week.

Edit: jackskellington49- Put the Calzaghe Kool-Aid down.  If you don't think it was a clean knockdown, then watch the replay because even Calzaghe admitted it at the end of the fight.  And it is a big difference in age when you're 43 and have fought worthy opponents compared to when you're 36 and have fought bums for the majority of your career and then at the end only start to fight the best out there.  I admit that Calzaghe won, but this fight only proved one thing to me- if Calzaghe had crossed the pond and fought a prime B-Hop, he would have lost easily.

  3. personally i hate slap boxing ..... but Calzaghe did land some decent shots late in the fight to get the win on points... i was going for Hopkins in the fight and even though he was landing the harder blows, i have to say Calzaghe forced the action and looked more in control by the end of the Match .... was close but i had Calzaghe by a round ..... i will say that Hopkins lost that fight more than Calzaghe won it

  4. the keyword there was boxing. calzaghe was landing more punching, even if they were weak. hopkins may get a rematch though.

  5. Hopkins would have got KO'd if he didn't cheat and fake low blows. You seem to forget about that.

  6. That sounds like loser talk. Your boy got schooled.

  7. Stop clutching onto straws your man got some humble pie but refused to eat it like you.

Kiss your Bernard poster and move on.

  8. Any true Boxing Fan could see that Calzaghe clearly won the Fight.

  9. Well a lot of younger fighters have been knocked down by older ones, made bleed and come back to win. Prime example was Rocky Marciano vs. Jersey Joe Walcott I. Even though the older Walcott dropped Rocky and was winning on the cards b4 being kayoed it didn't diminish Rock's win or career.

The fight was very unimpressive other than Bhops Academy award performance with the low blow and Calzaghe wildly swinging away most of the time which cost him the knockdown and cut in the first, the ''butt hump'' was hilarious but dumb and classless.

Calzaghe was in a no win situation anyway. If he beats Bhop he beats an old man, if he loses he lost to an old man. But a wins a wins. And maybe Calzaghe learned a few things fighting the veteran Hopkins and can back up his ''legend killer'' comment  by fighting Jones Jr., Tarver, Dawson e.t.c. and make himself the legend to beat.

  10. i'm not a fan of Calzaghe but he WON the match. end of

people need to stop making excuses for Hopkins, i know its embarrassing for him after he run running his mouth so much,

and so what if Calzaghe was bleeding and got knocked - it says alot about Hopkins if he couldn't even finish him off.

EDIT: i think every professional boxer would prefer to bleed and WIN that be unscathed and LOSE. thats just common sense
