  1. Only works if you're a puck bunny or rabbit. The hopping that is.

Speed from skates comes from the same forces as speed in sailing. Contact line. The longer the edge of the skate is in contact with the ice the faster the skating stroke. The final power stroke comes from an ankle flick at break of contact. These steps will increase spead more than any upper leg strengthening exercises ever will.

  2. It isn't called anything because it is not a good skating technique. You want to push back and a little bit out to the side to get as much power as possible in each stride. If you want to get faster then try this: Do sprints up and down the ice if you have some free ice time. Start out with three quick strides and then stretch it out so that you have a long stride and are able to harness the most speed. If you do your normal stride and then try doing what i have suggested, you will notice a difference in your speed. Even while you are doing drills in practice, start out with those three quick strides and then stretch it out and you will develope muscle memory, which will help you in the long run. Don't do the jumps, because it will just slow you down, i don't know why they do it.

  3. It's called wasting energy.

To go faster you want to push directly BACK in order to gain FORWARD motion.

In other words, it's something skating coaches teach players not to do.

  4. Skates won't do too much. You have to gte leg strength for that. Workout your legs in the gym, and run.

EDIT: I thought you said Hoping on getting hockey skates. lol sorry. Yeah..Idk of a name it has. Just get power..

  5. Ask Ovechkin.

  6. hockey skates help rather than boardwalk skates in roller hockey and ice hockey skates work bette than figure skates believe me ive played roller hockey and ice ive never tried figure skates but ive seen people hockey skates are better for hockey its just the aerodynamics its science
