  1. ~ 9 lbs thrust.

you dont normally buy a trolling motor by its thrust rating.

    good luck.

  2. A rule of thumb is 12 lbs of thrust equals 1 horsepower. Thrust is like horsepower in that you never have too much.  Another thing about trolling motors is the voltage. Two batteries for a 36 lb thrust 12 volt trolling motor will not last as long as the same two batteries on a 24 volt system. I don't know why. That is something I found out the hard way. If at all possible get the 24 volt motor.

  3. I would be happy to help you out but I need to know what you plan to do with it and the size of boat you are mounting it on.

      Contact me if you wish.

  4. Minkota has chart giving size motor for given usage. the propeller is also a factor. get a weedless type. bow mount will give greater control. consider wind and drag. foot control is handy. 24 volt is best .forward and reverse control.

  5. I see you're into fishing.

For one thing, you need 5 pounds of thrust for 200 lbs. of loaded boat...do the math.

Light useage...12V, heavier and you need to look at putting batteries in series for 24 or 36 volts.

Cabelas has a great referance online. http://www.cabelas.com/story-123/ross_tr...

Depending on efficiency, about 11 pounds thrust to one hp.
