  1. depends but id say: 1000.

1600 would be a small draft horse or really large muscular stock horse

  2. Average in the U.S. is 800lbs - 1200lbs

    A 1600lbs horse would be 18 hands+ like a Clydesdale!

  3. The average weight of most breeds of horses is between 800 to 1250 pounds, depending on whether it's a horse or a pony, and on the animal's age and state of growth (pregnant mares weigh more than non- pregnant ones, for obvious reasons) The draft breeds ( Clydesdales, Percherons, Suffolk Punches, Belgians and the like) often weigh anywhere from 1350 pounds to as much as 2000 for the Shire, the world's tallest and heaviest horse breed. In ALL breeds, stallions and geldings generally weigh more than mares. Your estimate of 1600 pounds is accurate for draft horses, though it's a bit high for the regular breeds.

  4. I spent five years working with Thoroughbreds, mostly as a groom (the person responsible for the day-to-day care of the horse), so I'm qualified to answer. Thoroughbreds generally range from 950-1200 pounds, with the vast majority running around 1050-1100 pounds.
