Question:

Horn to Mellophone Question?

Hey, I just recently started doing marching band at the college level (with no marching experience in high school) and I play the french horn but for marching I now have to play the mellophone.

I'm used to playing with my left hand and not supporting the instrument with it and now my wrist is really hurting. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do to either help my wrist or maybe point out some way I'm holding it wrong?

  1. An ace bandage might help. or you could check into a brace like they use for wrist injuries.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

  2. Yeah french horn!!  (I also played).  You may just try wrapping your wrist with tape for the first few games, to help keep it a bit stiff.  It will be tired at first, since you're not used to holding it that way.  But, it will get better the more you do it!
