Former Everton midfielder, Barry Horne, hoped that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marouane-Fellaini-c24295 will recover in time to feature in the eagerly anticipated Merseyside derby this month.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Belgium-c2850 International is currently recovering from a minor knee injury which he sustained during the Toffees Premier League game against Wigan Athletic.
Consequently, he was ruled out from his country’s ongoing World Cup Qualifiers and is also running in the risk of missing out a couple of games for his club following the international break.
Liverpool and Everton, who both hail from Merseyside, share a bitter rivalry. The two teams will lock horns in a mouth-watering encounter at Goodison Park on the 28th of October.
However, the 24-year old’s truancy from the fixture could prove to be a big setback for the Toffees, given his coruscating recent form.
The 50-year old Welshman couldn’t agree more. He was of the opinion that Fellaini was currently the mainstay of the Toffees squad and he could create all kinds of problems for a beleaguered Brendan Rodgers’ unit who are finding it difficult at the moment
to find their feet in the league.
Fellaini fired his side to a 1-0 win over Manchester United on the opening day. He also put up phenomenal performances against Swansea City and Aston Villa and is currently one of the hottest players in the league.
Horne told the reporters in an interview, “The Belgian can, if on his game, be a match winner. We saw against Manchester United earlier in the season that when he is on form, even the best sides can struggle to play him.”
“http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 have had defensive problems this season, so to face a fit and firing Fellaini would have been a major test for them. He has caused them plenty of problems in the past, though funnily enough he has never managed to score a goal against our cross-city
rivals.”
The Belgian star was signed by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 in September 2008 for a whooping 15 million pounds transfer fee. Since then, he has represented the club in 145 matches in all competitions and has also got 23 goals to his name.
