Question:

Hornet/Wasp Nest? How to get rid of it?

Okay, I heard from my brother that there was a hornet/wasp nest in the patio at my house. He told it was near a wall, not the top corners, near some shovels and sticks. It just looked like small chunk of mud stuck to the wall, but he told me he saw 2 wasps on it. So is it a wasp nest? And how would I get rid of it? Its not really bug though, but I have a dog in the patio, and I don't want him to get hurt. If you need a picture, I'll gladly post it.

  1. Here is the best way to do it.

Take a Vacum Shop Vac or better use these leaf sucker blowers.

Attache the Shp Vac hose with tape onto the end of the leaf sucker blower and suck in the wasp and nest.

The Leaf blower has a built in wind mil blad to cut it all up.

PS. dont forget to use the Leak bag collector attached b4 doing it.

It works I got ride of 3 nests, I hade a 15 ft hose so I was far away..

  2. If it's not bothering anyone or anything just leave it be. If not disturbed they generally go about their business of eating other pests.

  3. GET THAT EXPANDING FOAM  FOR SEALING DRAFTS.. STICK THE NOZZLE   THE STRAW.. IN SIDE A LITTLE AND SEAL IT THEY  WILL DIE..

  4. That looks more like a dirt dauber or mud dauber nest to me. They are rarely aggressive.  The nest can simply be knocked down and mud sprayed off with water.  These guys do good things like eat spiders and insects, so we usually get rid of these nests when we do outside house cleaning, otherwise we leave them alone.  I had my husband look at your pic also and he agreed it was a dirt dauber nest.

If you're still concerned about hornet or wasps, I would buy some wasp & hornet spray,  These spray great from a distance and kill instantly.  The best time to spray is after dark when all the insects are in the nest and calm.  Spray into the entrance hole and walk away.  My husband keeps them handy as he is also allergic to wasps.

Google "wasp nest photos" and you will see how a wasp/hornet nest looks.  Good luck and I don't think you have anything to worry about except a bit of mud.
