After 20 years of never having a problem with HR Block I experienced a quite expensive and very unfair situation this year in NYC. I worked with the nicest woman who spent a lot of time preparing my 2007 return. As usual my taxes should be a very simple process with no real room for mistake. After submitting my tax return 6 weeks ago, paying off my bills with the return, I recently found out that my tax preparer made some very serious and multiple mistakes. After confronting the branch manager I found out that my tax preparer was a trainee and because I didn't purchase the "PEACE OF MIND" policy HR Block will not be responsible. How can an outfit like HR BLOCK use a trainee to practice their skills, and not not ask their customers if they are okay with it? At least these forms should have been looked over by someone advanced who is familiar with tax updates. After speaking with the branch manager and getting no where I am feelinging very betrayed and cheated. What would you do?

  3. That's terrible!  I would go to the next level.  That is, ask the branch manager, "Fine. I want YOUR boss' contact information.  Now."  Then report the problem to him/her.  AT the very least, Block should file an amended return for you at no charge, and be willing to pay any penalties.  AND I would report them to your local chapter of the Better Business Bureau.  And next year, spend the 39.99 to get the software and do it yourself! :)

  4. Ultimately, you sign the return and it is your responsibility.

Tell the whole world what they did, and tell everyone to not use H&R Block for these reasons.  If that actually works, they will go bankrupt.

  5. I personally feel that you have no other place to turn, so my suggestion is call someone who will listen, the Better Business Bureau. You will get somewhere, and talk to someone who will fix your problem, keep going up the ranks, dont give up be a pain in their side, if you dont go away, your problem will be fixed.

Yes H&R block is VERY expensive, I from now on will NEVER go back to them,

    Good luck!!
