  1. same here, lots of spegetti and hamburger helper.

  2. More people need to carpool.

  3. Actually at first I did alot, but as time has gone on,they take away your savings no matter what you give up,rates and food like you said just keep climbing. My fight now is with the utilities. Some reasonable things to do and often overlooked, change your cooking habits now.If you do lots of fast food, that's expensive.Use your crock pot now more than ever even the toughest meats are great with some cooking spices. As are veggies and beans always a staple.Instead of a theater nite make it a one time movie nite with a couple rentals and snacks once a month. Its going to hit with back to school shopping,Good luck with that.Hopefullt what small changes we can make will help over time but I fear we will all just need to tighten up and make fewer choices and hopefully spend less doing it.God Bless You.Just a thought.

  4. You've heard of mental depression; this is a mental recession. We have sort of become a nation of whiners. You just hear this constant whining, complaining about a loss of competitiveness, America in 'decline' despite a major export boom that is the primary reason that growth continues in the economy.

-John McCain adviser, former Senator Phil Gramm

I'm sure McCain's thoughts aren't much different on the subject of people's opinions on the economy...after all, they are on the same team, personal friends, same political party (neo-cons...different than a real conservative)

Yet, people still want to vote for Mclame lololol

  5. yea society sucks nowdays

  6. We grow some of our own food, and we bought 2 cars that run on natural gas (methane), which is much cheaper ($10 to fill up) and much better for the environment. We don't eat out much, either because that gets very expensive. Use coupons and buy stuff on sale. Never pay full price!

  7. You are so right ,maybe we can all apply for government assistance as a prank to lower the cost of food and gas ,that would so freakin awsome everybody in the U.S. justs goes to their local office to apply ,LOL!!!!

  8. There is a district in my community called Little Saigon.

It is a mid-1990 built gated community populated by an

Asian home owner who paid cash to purchase outright

their piece of America.  These were the so-called BOAT

PEOPLE who dribbled into USA from as refugee folks,

with poor English skills, who took poorly paid employment.

Their present wealth speaks well of an ability to focus on goals and not fritter away hard-earned income.  Look at

the personal property that mass marketing has sold you

to figure out why you're "...barely survivin' over here!"  Get

rid of bad habits and start saving.  Be thankful gasoline and

food prices finally secured your attention to focus problem .

  9. Actually, nothing different.  I've always hated long commutes, so I live within 5miles of my work and go home for lunch to save money and harrass the dogs.

As for food, I've been a member of both Costco and Sam's Club for years...buying in bulk with an extra fridge in the garage.  Small items like green onions and such are still part of my local grocery run.

I used to live in Southern Cal making $65K a year and just barely getting by.  I relocated more than 15years ago to a lower cost of living State where I could retain my income.

My vehicle registration dropped from $450 annually to $36 the next year.  I never visited the Ocean / Beach while I lived out there...now, I take a road trip two or three times a year.  I just got back from one to Huntington Beach.

I feel for you though, my financial crisis began years before.  Good luck and really look at what's important to you and your family.  There are always choices...the question is whether or not you're willing to make the hard ones.

  10. i would buy very plain, cheap meals... i had a huge car, but sold it for another used car.

    hope i helped ;)
