Question:

Horrible taste after dental drilling?

So I went to get a wisdom tooth removed yesterday and due to the tooth growing in sideways (like this __ instead of | |) It had to be drilled into 3 pieces to be removed. He also had to drill into my jaw bone. I was rather comfortable during the procedure (I was not put to sleep or drugged) and even had a few laughs while being worked on.

The most unpleasant part was the smell of burning tooth and/or bone during the drilling.

That is why I come here. After I left the dentists office the taste of burned tooth/bone lingered in my mouth and is still present.

Is this normal? And how long before it subsides? I am not in much discomfort with the exception of this foul taste in my mouth. Please help. It is making me very sick.

  1. JIM,

THE NASTY TASTE DOES NOT LAST FOREVER. IN A FEW DAYS IT WILL VANISH.

  2. That's kinda weird that the taste is still so bad that it's making you sick. That does not sound normal at all! Of course, I've never had a wisdom tooth pulled so I wouldn't know. I'm sure if you call your dentist's office they will be able to advise you.

  3. Umm, I think that is normal. Try drinking delicious things (not too sugary) and eating things that have a lasting taste that you like (such as sour cream and onion, onion, garlic, etc.)
