Horror Movie ideas for Mass Media project?

Hi I'm creating a horror movie with my friend for mass media and i would help to use ideas from people and combine them to make an original idea so id love to hear some of yours

Ok, I was saving this for myself but here ya go.

There's a guy, let's call him Rob, who's a private investigator or an ex-cop, and he's fallen on hard times, really down and out. He's probably 30ish. Rob's only family is his younger sister, let's say Rita. She's in her early 20s maybe. Well Rita is trying to reconnect with Rob and such, but he won't have any of that. Past history and his alcoholism is standing in the way of rebuilding a relationship.

Through a series of events, Rita goes missing. Rob pours all of his past expertise into finding the kidnappers. Then one gloomy night Rob receives a cryptic blood-stained letter saying "the girl will not be returned until we get what was taken from us". As Rob continues to follow the cryptic clues left for him, he descends into a dark world few have seen, and he soon realizes that there is something darker, deadlier, and more evil than any mere kidnapper behind his sister's disappearance.

As Rob frantically scrambles to keep up with the clues, he discovers that an event from his past connects him to whatever took his sister.

Can Rob overcome his alcoholism in order to save his little sister? What past event connects him with the darkness? What was taken from the kidnapper(s) that must be returned?
