Question:

Horse's Forelock looks like Alfalfa from the Little Rascals!?

My new horse (Appendix QH) was a rescue and hadn't been groomed much. I am training his mane to lay flat but I'm at a loss on his forelock. He has a short, thin forelock to start with and a cowlick right in the center that makes it split and lay like Alfalfa's! Any suggestions on how to fix this?

  1. Wrap it with a small piece of leather and let it lay flat on his face. That's how I do it.

  2. you can do as others have suggested but most Quarter Horses have scraggly forelocks any way, unless you give vitamins and supplements for it. good luck

  3. I've used regular hair gel on a forelock to hold it in place and keep it smooth looking.
