  3. I am not going to repeat the basics that most have already listed. Be sure you have checked your tack over so you wont have any mis-haps when you get there! I teach at a horse camp every summer, and there is always a student who's bridle loses a s***w or halter breaks. So be sure to have extra tack if you think this could be an issue. I would also recommend a fan for both you and your horse, electrolytes to be sure your horse stays hydrated, and medical supplies so you would be prepared if anything happened. I would also bring an extra change of clothes. I have heard that if your horse is picky about drinking water at a new place that if you use a yellow bucket it might help them drink it. -Just a thought! Take plenty of fly spray/repellent for both of you. Also be sure to have at least 2 saddle pads so your not using a sweaty one if you ride more than once a day. Other than that I can't really think of anything else! Have fun...

make sure you have barn boots, and food.

    Im still thinking...

  6. thats a nice wrap around your head

  7. Well of course the most important thing is your horse. then your helmet. So make sure you bring all of his/her tack. Don't forget grooming supplies and fly spray flies are a big problem for horses, get him/her a fly mask to help keep the flies out of their ears and eyes. bring you boots and jeans or breeches if you need half chaps bring those too. In your horse needs spurs don't foreget those too. I would recomend gloves just incase they are always a good idea if you are riding your horse in a new inviorment incase he/she tries to rip them out of your hands. bring lots of water and sunscreen and sunclasses. If your horse has a white or pink nose or face i would recomend putting sunsreen on your horse too. Remember horses do get sunburned and its not pleasent. i hope this helps and have a good time at horse camp, and remeber your halter and lead rope and if he or she needs boots or polo wraps bring those too.

  8. I know that when my mom's boss goes somewhere else to ride he flavors his horses water before hand so it isn't picky about funny water, it will only taste the flavor!

  9. My advice is to bring everything AND a spare!! You never know when something is going to break or if a friend is going to leave something at home.

-Make sure you have all your tack and grooming supplies, as well as enough grain and hay to last for your stay.

-Be sure to bring a first aid kit for your horse. You never know what might happen. My first year at camp a friend of mine's horse got loose and was running about like a fool and ended up splitting her leg open on a horse trailer (dont ask how she ran into a horse trailer... she's just crazy like that). No one brought anything to treat the wound so her parents had to come up the next morning to take care of it. But, my point is, you never know what will happen, so bring everything just in case.

-If it crosses your mind, pack it.

-Make sure you have water and feed buckets, and an unlimited supply of water (if the camp doesn't already have spickets).

-Bring stuff to keep you busy during 'down time' when you're not riding the horses/playing games/etc... Stuff like playing cards, board games and stuff like that.

-LOTS of drinks. If your camp is anything like ours, you'll have to bring your own drinks. Ours only let us have drinks when it was mealtime... and a Kentucky summer where its 80 degrees with 90% humidity is NOT the time to be without hydration.

    Well, I hope I helped!
