What do you use to detangle your horses hair? Either the concentrate or the regular where you dont have to mix up yourself. Or do you know of any homemade recipes for detangler?

  1. Absorbine Show Sheen

    Equss Surviour

I am sure you can find it at any of your horse supply stores.  Those are two very popular products.

  2. You can spend a fortune at a tack store or you can pick up pretty much anything designed for humans, espcially little kids no tear stuff and save some $$.

A good brush works wonders too!!

  3. All the detanglers are roughly the same - Xtreme makes one, there's one by Silverado, MTG is a detangler and conditioner that helps with dry skin too.

You can buy them on-line or from catalogs, at Tractor Supply Company, or your local tack store or elevator.  Valley Vet supply, COuntry Supply, State Line Tack are some catalogs who also have websites, the store I work (play) at also sells it www.thewirehorse.com

  4. I LOVE Show Sheen for detangling tails and manes....spray your horses' tail pretty heavily with Show Sheen an begin to pick the knots out...it helps those knots release in a hurry!!!

    Also Cowboy Magic works well.....

You may purchase both at any tack shop.

  5. a good one to use is 'canter' mane and tail detangler spray. it smells gd too and can be used on wet or dry mane and tail. if your horse is spooked by sprays it's probably not the best option. you can buy it from most tack/saddlery shops. good luck with finding the right one!

  6. Hi,

Well I always get looked at funny when I say this but WD-40!

I always use it and it loosens even the most dreadful of dreadlocks!

    You can buy it anywhere!

Target, Wal-mart, Lowes, Home Depot and get this it is really cheap!

If you just want a normal one, the stuff for little kids hair tangles works good too!

Baby oil may even be a good idea if you are weary of the WD-40!

Hope I Helped and Good Luck!

  7. As stated above: Cowboy Magic works really well. And show sheen. And Mane and Tail. Just go look at all the options!

There are many different types of detangler, and grooming products in general.

You can find them at your local tack store, or in horse catalogs and on websites.

    Here are some web sites:

    www.SmartPakEquine.com

    www.statelinetack.com/

    www.doversaddlery.com/

    Good Luck!

  8. i don't think there is much difference in them except maybe the price.  just for every day use i use cheap baby oil which works well. good for your hands as well.  keeps them soft.

    hope that helps.

  9. Yes, there is NOTHING better than cowboys magic detangler.  You just apply a little bit and the snarles and knots just come right out.  It's the best stuff ever.  You can get it from any tack store - online or local stores.  Best stuff ever.

I've played around with home made remedies like WD-40 and baby oil - but nothing works like cowboys magic.

Show Sheen works well for the hair on the body to make it smooth and pretty, but doesn't get out the knots and snarles.  Once the hair is brushed, show sheen makes it soft and shiny - but doesn't even come close to the goodness of cowboy's magic!

    Take care!

  10. Cowboy Magic Detangler - buy it at your local tack shop

    Show Sheen works well too

  11. rio vista

    www.doversaddlery.com

  12. I actually go to walmart and get Infusium Leave-in Conditioner for people.

It works real good as a detangler on my horses.

  13. Mane 'n' Tail works really well too, and you can use it on humans to. I use that and Show Sheen works really well too. You can get it at almost any tack shop.

  14. i use the leave-in conditioner that you can get at walmart, in a spray bottle. for a brush i also use a "people brush", using the big square one. it helps to widen the knots and separate them.

  15. The only one I've ever used is Show Sheen.
