A recent horse movie is The Derby Stallion. It is kinda corny, but its funny because you can tell he can't ride for beans. Lol =]

Virginia's Run! I freaking love that movie! It's about a girl and her mom dies from a horse accident and her dad doesn't want her to ride.

Another great one is the Horse Whisperer. It is REALLY sad though. Their pretty young.

I agree with all the movies listed so far.  They are all amazing!

However, two VERY important horse movies are missing.  These are AMAZING, especially if you ride english/hunter jumper/equitations.  

Danny (aka:  A Horse Called Danny) (1977)  yes, it's a little old, but it is so true to the horse world.  It's about a young girl who works at a barn for a wealthy family.  She helps feed, clean, and ride the horses.  The family's spoiled daughter gets a pony named Danny, and doesn't really ride him well.  Then he gets hurt, and Janey (the other girl) helps take care of him until he gets better.  I won't give away any more, but it really is a close reality of the world of horse showing.

The other one I love is The Horse in the Grey Flannel Suit (Disney, 1968)  yes, it's another old one, but it too, gives insight into the world of riding.  It's a funny look at sponsorship in riding, when a girl's father buys her a horse as his company's investment.  It's a great movie!

Spirit was, and is, one of my favorite movies.

King Arthur has a small thing about horses in the beginning, and the end takes your breath away. It's not about horses, per se, but it has the most magnificent horses in it !

Stardust is like King Arthur -- not about horses, but a great movie, and it is one of my favorite movies because it has amazing horses in it, always in every single scene. Beautiful.

The Silver Stallion: King of the Brumbies is a great movie, beautiful and poetic. Brings tears to my eyes.

Flash is an AMAZING movie. It's indescribable.

Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken is a really old movie, but it is a childhood favorite for me.

Lightning, the White Stallion -- I saw this movie when I was very little, but I remember it being very, very good.

The Misty movies are always good !

The Horse Whisperer is sort of recent, and a very good movie.

Hidalgo is an old favorite.

Dreamer isn't that great of a movie, actually. It was pretty decent, but in my opinion, it was just average.

Seabiscuit was a little overrated, but still very good.

Racing Stripes was a good comedy for family, but not something you want to watch for a quality time.

My Friend Flicka was an OKAY movie, but STAY AWAY. Go to "http://www.mydeadflicka.com/", and read. Two horses died during filming. It may not be true, but I'd rather not risk it, and endorse a film that is more glitter than is needed. The original Flicka was my favorite. This new Flicka doesn't follow the book at ALL -- honestly, I think it's just dumb.
