I am doing a lease soon and I have a few questions in general and about owning or buying.

1. What is a good online used tack shop?

2. Any cool recipes for horse treats?

3. Some websites for tack in general. (I know Dover and Stateline and Victory Canter but any more?)

4. Should I show and what are the requirements for Hunter? (Yes I am experienced and have been riding for a while and would love to try to show but what are the requirements for a schooling and regular show?)

5. How do sign up for 4-H in your town or city?

7. I still have quite a bit of time before I go to college and so I was wondering what I can do in advance to become an equine vet? I know do good in math and science but what can I do when I am not in school?

8. Best part to owning a horse?

9. Best way to spoil your horse without it being a bratt basically being a good owner?

10. Is there any website where I can post a wanted add for tack? If so what and how?

Thanks for your time!

I appreciate it a lot!

  1. Discount/Closeout Items: www.countrysupply.com

Vet School: Depends on which vet school you want to get into, at Texas A&M a few good pointers are:

    -Focus on Chemistry courses

-Off time: Get professionally involved in animal related activities, such as working at a local vet clinic, humane society, etc. Hands on experience is really important.

-Take all the college courses in high school you can, this will help keep your GPR high when you are in college since you will have more transfer credit and fewer survey courses to deal with.

Craigslist is always great for buying/selling tack and supplies: http://craigslist.org

  2. For tack and horse stuff try ebay and your local craigslist.

  3. 1 - ebay

2 - you dont need fancy recipes - the horse will be happy with fresh carrot and apples and bread

    3 - dont know sorry

4 - That is up to you

5 - I dont know what that is

    6 - ??

7 - Volunteer at your local vets, equine vet and studs etc

8 - every bit of it

9 - be kind and loving, and keep him/her well fed (that is their favourite part)

    10 - ebay wanted section

  4. 1. www.heritagesaddlery.com or www.bcsaddlery.com

    2. google "horse treat recipes" <- i found a lot that way

    3. www.sstack.com <uhh I have so many but I can't think of them at the moment ):

    4. What do you mean 'requirements' like what do you have to do?

    5. google "your state here 4-h" then you can find an extension office in your county and their website will have a list of the clubs. <but you will have to wait until next June because this years season is already closed>

    7. Get experience- volunteer at barns and things <but you might have to show your college proof, experience with horses is a requirement. ooh and before vet school get a degree in biochemistry that way if for some reason you can't get in you can still have a job.  I'm in college now to be a large and small animal vet, well first I'm getting my biochemistry degree (:

    8. Hearing them whinny at you when you go to catch them.

    9. Grooming- horses groom each other in the wild to show their affection for one another & so you can check your horse everyday for any cuts or bumps.

    10. www.tacktrader.com or www.webpony.com <you have to open an account but it's free, it's pretty easy just look around on the sites and you should be able to figure it out... I like tacktrader more>

Woo I'm finished.. I hope that I helped you. Please contact me if there's anything else you need.. By the way you missed number 6 and thank you you're the one person that can spell "a lot" (:

GOOD LUCK with your horse and with being a vet.. and what kind of tack are you looking for I have plenty that I'm trying to sell.. Once again I hope that I helped you and Good Luck.

  5. 1. Ebay. They have lots of mini stores within it.

    2. Flour and everything else my horse eats. I have used grain, sweet feed, shreded carrots/apples and molassas. There are loads of recipies on google/yahoo.

    3. Not sure.....

    4. The point of hunters is for it to look effortless. Your horse should go at all gaits and over fences on a loose rein. TBs and Warmbloods are most commonly used. There are tons of small local h/j circuts all over the country that are good entry points. Lots of them are ruled by politics and money though so just be aware. It is completely necessary though (in my area) to have a trainer. You will get ignored/laughed at without one. You have been warned.

    5. You dont want 4-h for jumping. Check out your local Pony Club: http://www.ponyclub.org/

it is not hunter though but is still loads of fun and the training can be applied to hunter/jumper.

    6. wait your missing this number.....

    7. I am getting an internship at a vet clinic my junior and senior year as well as going for my B and maybe A rating in Pony Club. I am hoping this (as well as grades at a great HS) will prove to colleges that I really do want it and can handle their work.

    8. The bond. And the fact that he is mine. It sounds bad but I love the feeling that he is mine and no one else can touch him.

    9. Find his scratchy spot. Most horses have one or two spots where they LOVE to be scratched. They will stand for hours and make their happy faces.

    10. Go you your local tack store and see what they have. Going to a local show and hanging up fliers (in the barn, in the restroom/portipoties, in the office) of what you are looking for with your e-mail and phone number. Make sure you put up enough that people can tear them down and there still be enough up.

E-mail me if you have any other questions. jazzme2305@yahoo.com   I am on like everyday and will try to help with anything else you need!

  6. to get into 4-h find a club and go to there metting and see if you like that club if you do tell them you want to join there club if you don't keep looking the best part of owning a horse is taking care of them and riding them how to be a good owner love your horse praise your horse when they do something good and ride them

  7. 11. probably medium tree, but in terms of length, the saddle should fit you....i have a 17" saddle b/c im 5'8", but i use it on any horse i ride, because anything else is uncomfortable for me to ride in

  8. Hey Arab Filly!!!!!

    1. www.statelinetack.com (not used but nice...did u try local barns yet?)

    2. Yes! I will send them to you!

    4. Depends on show!

    6. YOU MISSED 6! LOL!

    7. email CSU!! GO RAMS!

    8. being there with them and caring for them

    9. grooming

    10. creggs list

  9. why dont u know the answers 2 most of these questions if u are experienced?

-the only things you can really do in advance to become an equine vet is study hard and go 2 an equine vet for work experience (im taking the same path)

the best way to spoil your horse is to have them healthy and happy, and a carrot when you go to catch them isnt a bad idea either.

-emmasshowhorses is a good place to post wanted adds for tack

  10. 1.http://www.bitsandbridles.com/used-tack-... just found it but it looks pretty good. and then here is just alot of different ones. http://www.sporthorse1.com/tack.html wish i could help more but i have only had to buy one new saddle so far, and i got that from a store.

    5. I know you can do it online.

    6. ha ha oops skipped 6, gues it was to scared of seven after seven ate nine lol.

    7. Well there is more then just doing good in math and science. You want to take all the animal type classes they offer. Like my school has animal behavor class. you would also want to succed in bioligy. I was going to be a vet, but now im going to have a wild life rescue home, work as a wildlife photo grapher, and work at a zoo. can you tell i love wild animals?

    8. the love you get back when you get a strong bond. knowing you can tell them anything. Trusting them and my favorite them trusting you.

    9. LOVE! lots of TLC! grooming, treats, and spending time with them. unlike people horses can get spoiled and loved by just being there next to them. there kind of like a baby. A baby doesnt really care if you buy them a big screen t.v or for horses a nice new halter. all they want is for you to be there, and give them love!

    10. yes i know of one  horse fourm.
