Horse Racing: Any Currency misses out the season
The talented and dominating staying chaser, Any Currency has been revealed to be missing out the racing season. The colt is a hot favourite for the upcoming John Smith’s Grand National event, with odds as short as 25-1. It was
announced that his trainer Martin Keighley made this decision with respect to the advice made by his regular vet that the colt needed a lay off. Hence, for the betterment of Any Currency, his racing campaign was curtailed.
The 8-year-old racehorse has always been a very consistent performer and he was quoted at 14-1 for the upcoming Coral Welsh National event. The meeting was postponed due to the big freeze that encompassed Britain and Ireland for
more than a month. Nonetheless, when it was rescheduled to take place on this weekend, Any Currency’s name was withdrawn from the list of entries for the event since he was laid down by a leg injury. After he sustained this injury, he was also kept from taking
part in the Cheltenham meeting that took place last month.
According to his blog, his trainer Keighley was reported as saying that Any Currency’s leg injury did not allow him to send him out to contend the Welsh National event go. He added that his leg problem is still there.
The trainer further went on to say that his veterinary doctor Jeremy Swan is of the view that it is not safe for the colt to take part in any other meetings of the racing season. He also said that Swan ensured the colt’s connections,
if his advice was followed; they will have a fit racehorse at the end of the campaign, which can be sent out to claim as many races in the next racing season, including the prestigious Grand National meeting.
Keighley added that Any Currency is still young, he will not compromise the health of the talented racehorse, and that he deserves a break after the leg problem that he has been suffering from. The last appearance was given by
Any Currency in the Midnight Chase that took place in Cheltenham in November of last month. He was the runner up to the winner in this event. His fans and well-wishers want to see a fit Any Currency and are ready to let go of the Welsh National in the interest
of the dodgy jumper.
