Horse Racing: Beethoven all set to claim the Qatar Invitational Cup
Qatar will be hosting some quality racing events on Thursday. The main race of the day will be the one that will be staged in Al Rayyan, Doha. This is being called the Qatar Invitational Cup. The race will be run over a distance of 1 mile and 4 furlongs
on a turf surface and will be contended by racehorses of age three and above. The Invitational Cup will kick off at 3.30 p.m. GMT on Thursday.
The most fancied horse that has been trained and who has raced in Qatar, Beethoven is the most prominent feature of this race. The racehorse will return to the track to claim yet another race, after winning two races back to back and a great deal of
prize money. The racehorse comes from under the care of Aidan O’Brien. Beethoven will be encountered by 14 rivals in this race. All those involved in the horse business, along with the fans and connections are enthusiastically looking forward to this event,
since this is the richest race that is run in Qatar and carried purse money of 500,000 Qatar Riyal, an equivalent of 84,000 pounds.
Beethoven has an impressive athletic career to present. The racehorse claimed the 2009 edition of the Dewhurst race. It has been reported that he arrived in Qatar in 2010 from Ballydoyle after achieving an international rating of 117 points. It has
also been stated that champion colt took part in eight races in the last racing term. He won the Grade III event at Leopardstown and was successful in finishing the Sussex meeting, Irish Champion and Queen Elizabeth II Stakes in the first four spots.
The racehorse proved his talent and potential when he claimed the Qatar Derby that was run over a distance of 1 mile and 2 furlongs. This was a difficult victory as Beethoven just won this race by a neck from the colt Lancelot. Beethoven then went
on to win the Heir Apparent Trophy that was run last month. This race was won by the champion by a distance of half a length.
