Horse Racing: Ben Case to saddle Dance Island in Welsh National
The prestigious Coral Welsh National event will kick off on Saturday. In the strong field of competitive contenders, Synchronised, the ante-post favourite has high chances of claiming the event. Those who think alike also include
the trainer, Ben Case. The trainer will be sending out his talented racehorse Dance Island to run in the mega event at Chepstow and strive to give Case the biggest success of his training career.
The trainer has had his jumps licence for about 12 years now and has saddled more than five winners in a racing season. Ben Case is particularly fond of his racehorse Dance Island, who indeed has great potential to steal the show
tomorrow in the greatest race of the Chepstow racecourse. The talented colt caught the attention of many fans and critics of the sport when he finished second to champion Burton Port in the Aintree meeting that took place last April.
When the trainer was approached by the correspondents about his plans with his trainees, he was reported as saying, “I think Jonjo’s horse is a good thing, but it would be wonderful for our yard if we could win.”
He further went on to say, “It’s been nice to have such a lot of press interest in the build up to the race – it would be even nicer if we could have it after the race as well!”
The event was previously scheduled to take place on the 27th of December as a part of the card on which the Welsh National was to be staged, but was unfortunately abandoned because of the extreme weather conditions in
the country. Thus, Dance Island will have to work hard to hold off a field of competitors who have anxiously been waiting for the event to kick off for about 19 days now.
The field is still dominated by the champion Synchronised as there has barely been any change in the entries. He stands the hot favourite with the sponsors, followed by Maktu. The latter colt is Pat Murphy’s trainee and the winner
of the 2001 edition of Supreme Glory.
Others on the list include the fairytale hero racehorse Dream Alliance. The colt will once again be running against his rival Silver By Nature and Ballyfitz.
The Coral Welsh National is the highlight-racing event at Chepstow tomorrow.
