Horse Racing: Bensalem to feature in Cleeve Hurdle
There is good news for the fans of the champion racehorse Bensalem. He will be making an effective comeback in the Cleeve Hurdle meeting that will be taking place at Cheltenham. This is the first race that he will be contending in after he suffered from
a serious stroke of pneumonia last summer. The race has been scheduled to take place on the 29th of January 2011. His fans and connections are really looking forward to this meeting.
The seven year old racehorse has been training under the care of trainer Alan King. His list of credentials includes some remarkable performances scattered throughout his racing career. He was the second place finisher in the Ladbrokes.com World Series Hurdle
that took place at Punchestown. This was his latest start, but he lost to the colt Quevega.
His trainer Alan King was reported as saying, according to his official website, “Bensalem was a very good horse last year and finished second to Diamond Harry over fences and to Quevega over hurdles, and you don’t get much better form than that.”
His trainer also revealed that Bensalem's connections do not plan to send him out to any other events apart from that of hurdling, for this season at least. And then King also added that if all his hurdle challenges are managed well by the colt, he might
be sent out to contend the World Hurdle that is scheduled to take place at the Cheltenham Festival. The festival has been planned for March next year.
The official website of the trainer Alan King also had something to feature about the horse Medermit. The colt has not been seen in any racing events, and is expected to be featuring in the Plumpton event on Monday. He will be making an appearance after
he was refused for the Huntingdon meeting. The novice chaser will be facing some intense competition from the colts Dan Breen, American Trilogy and Qozak.
On the other hand, the International Hurdle at Cheltenham will be taking place today and will be featuring some of the most talented hurdlers. Those who are in the limelight are the winners of the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and Greatwood Hurdle winner Menorah,
the pace-setter Silviniaco Conti and the unbeaten novice Cue Card.
After a series of abandoned events in the country, Cheltenham will be offering some quality horse racing events today.
