Horse Racing: Big Zeb and Sizing Europe ready for Sunday showdown
Cheltenham racecourse offered some quality racing events for the fans of the sport today after it was announced that the high profile card will be going ahead after a second inspection was called, since the temperature last night went below the freezing
point. Now the fans and all those involved in the horse business are in for the same kind of entertainment tomorrow.
The event that the connections and fans are excited for equally is the Punchestown meeting that has been scheduled to take place tomorrow only if the weather allows. The most flaunted contenders of this meeting included the winner of the last season’s Queen
Mother Champion Chase, Big Zeb, and the champion of the Arkle Trophy, Sizing Europe. These two great racehorses will now be joined by one of the most talented racehorses of the country, Golden Silver. Fans and connections are expecting this Cheltenham trial
to be both informative and exciting for them.
The race, Boylesports.com Tied Cottage Chase, is officially billed as a Grade II event. However, it is a Grade I meeting in almost every aspect except that it will be featuring the best three of Ireland’s 2-miles chasers. All of these three racehorses will
be posing a great threat to the champion colt Master Minded in the upcoming prestigious Cheltenham Festival that has been scheduled to take place in March.
In the same event last racing season, the racehorse Big Zeb stole the show at Cheltenham in the race that was crowned by the two-time winner, Master Minded. After this victory, the winner of the Sportingbet.com Champion Chase has been giving flawless performances
and has managed to hold off Golden Silver in both the Navan and Leopardstown meetings.
Unlike the winner Big Zeb, the racehorse Sizing Europe has been a little unlucky with his outgoings. The racehorse could not win any race after he claimed the meeting at Cheltenham, his most recent victory being the one over Kauto Star over a distance of
3 miles at Down Royal.
His trainer Henry de Bromhead was reported as saying, “This is a nice opportunity for him before Cheltenham, where he is in the Gold Cup, the Champion Chase and the Ryanair. How he gets on back over two miles will help us decide which for those races he’ll
go for.”
The Punchestown meeting scheduled for tomorrow is subjected to an inspection at 8 a.m. tomorrow morning.
