Horse Racing: Bluesea Cracker ruled out of Welsh National
The 9-1 favourite for the rescheduled Welsh National meeting, Bluesea Cracker has been ruled out of the event because she was found to be lame and thus she will not be lined up amongst the other contenders on Saturday. The fixture
is being sponsored by Coral and it will take place at the Chepstow racecourse.
Bluesea Cracker claimed the Irish Grand National event of the last racing season. It was revealed that she sustained minor injuries in the form of bruises on her foreleg while she was attending a routine workout session near her
Country Cork home. James Motherway, her trainer announced on Monday that the 9-year-old mare will not be taking part in the Welsh National meeting that is due to take place on Saturday.
Talking to the correspondents about the bruises of the racehorse, Motherway was reported as saying, “It was a simple thing. She took a false step and hit her own front joint. We gave her a canter this morning, but she was fairly
tender and, after discussion with my vet, we decided it wasn’t the wisest thing to go to Chepstow.”
The Welsh National event was the sole major target for Bluesea Cracker and her connections. Thus, the trainer did not have any plans of sending her out to contend any other race so far. Moreover, she was pretty well prepared for
the meeting. Discussing the future plans of the racehorse, Motherway said that his team has decided to let the soreness diminish and the bruises to heal out of her joint before she is sent out to participate in any racing events. He further added that so far
he has no plans for Bluesea Cracker. Nonetheless, she is most likely to resume the sport sometime in February.
On the other hand, the clerk of the Chepstow racecourse is very much concerned about the unstable weather forecast for the end of this week. The matter of concern here is that there is a conflicting forecast, one that predicts
mild air with rainfall and the other that predicts cold air with snow. The clerk said that the last thing that the team wants is snow.
