Horse Racing: Bobs Worth claims the Neptune Hurdle
Cheltenham offered some quality racing for the fans of the sport today after the officials announced that the meeting this afternoon will go ahead. The temperatures last night went below the freezing point and thus the officials of the racecourse feared
that the high profile card might have to be called off. Fortunately, the racecourse passed the second inspection and Neptune Investment Novices’ Hurdle, that is registered as the Classic Novices’ Hurdle, took place at the Cheltenham racecourse today. The Grade
II event took place over a distance of 2 miles and 4 ½ furlongs and was open to racehorses of age four and above.
This race was claimed by the talented racehorse Bobs Worth. The colt once again claimed his great talent and potential by winning this race over the hurdles. This can indeed be called a powerful victory.
The winner racehorse, Bobs Worth, trains under the care of famed trainer Nicky Henderson. The sponsor of the prestigious Neptune Novices’ Hurdle, William Hill made the champion colt as short as 5-1 for the aforementioned event after he won the race at Cheltenham
today. Bobs Worth was previously being sent out to contend the Neptune Novices’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival as a 12-1 favourite. This event will be taking place at Cheltenham in March and is being considered as one of the most flaunted horse racing events
in the country.
The winner racehorse was seen running down the hill towards the home straight with improving performance and pace, and ran to take over the dominating colt, Backspin. He then went ahead, holding off the field while jumping the second last hurdle.
Backspin was easily held off by Bobs Worth after he took him over once; however, there was still a threat from another contender Rock On Ruby who was then observed struggling for the first place against Bobs Worth.
What made the race intriguing towards the end of the meeting was the fact that both the racehorses landed the final flight almost together. Nonetheless, Bobs Worth made an enthusiastic jump and went to run on strongly. On the other hand, Rock On Ruby was
then seen to come under great pressure of the leading racehorse and thus he gave in and Bobs Worth claimed the event.
The trainer Henderson, said in a post race interview, “It was a good performance as I thought he was flying a bit too high.”
