Horse Racing: Fairyhouse race gets a go ahead after passing the morning inspection
The big freeze claimed almost all the racing events towards the end of the last racing term. To the dismay of the fans of the sport and all those involved in the horse business, this problem is still continues. It was the big freeze and extreme weather
conditions that claimed almost all the racing events last year, and now it is the heavy rainfall that is causing hindrance in the progression of the racing calendar.
An inspection was announced for the Fairyhouse race at 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning. This inspection was prompted because of the 2 mm rainfall that the area received last night. The officials of the racecourse were indeed delighted the track was fit
for racing after the overnight rainfall. They were happy to find out that the rain did not cause water logging or any other problems that would render the track unfit for racing.
The acting manager of the track, Peter Roe was approached by the correspondents regarding the meeting. He was reported as saying, “We are all systems go. We only had 2 mm of rain overnight and while the ground is heavy, it is fine to race on.”
The fans of the sport and the connections of the contenders are very much looking forward to this meeting. The Fairyhouse racecourse will host a seven race card that will start at 2.05 p.m. on Wednesday. The card is featuring the Grade II Winning Fair Juvenile
Hurdle. Moreover, the most prominent feature of this card is the Grade II At The Races Bobbyjo Chase with a prize money of 174,000 Euros.
Apart from the Fairyhouse meeting, the Ayr meeting is also in doubt because of heavy rainfall forecast overnight. According to the reports from the Met Office, light rainfall will continue in the region throughout the day on Wednesday, meanwhile heavy
rainfall is expected at 3 a.m. at night. This compelled the officials of the racecourse to call out an inspection at 7 a.m. on Thursday morning. The clerk of the racecourse, Emma Marley, said that she is confident that the racing will get a go ahead because
the track can take a fair amount of rainfall; nonetheless, because of the varying weather reports and unpredictable weather conditions, she thought it was necessary to carry out a morning inspection.
The final decision regarding the Ayr meeting will be announced after the inspection.
