Horse Racing: Fantastic Pick will be running at Hollywood Park on Sunday

Hollywood Derby is scheduled to kick off at Hollywood Park on Sunday, the 28th of November 2010 at 12:37 a.m. GMT. The race will be run on turf over a distance of 1 mile and 1 furlong. The event is open for racehorses of age 3 years and above.
After his spectacular performance in the Oak Tree Derby at Santa Anita, Fantastic Pick will be featuring in the Grade I Hollywood Derby that is one of the prominent races of this bountiful Thanksgiving weekend. The colt will be ridden by Corey Nakatani under
the training of Jamie Lloyd. Fantastic Pick was successful in holding off the speedy colt Blue Panis, by just a head. His connections are expecting the racehorse to once again steal the show over his Hollywood Derby rival.
Blue Panis is not the only competition that Fantastic Pick will have to encounter in the tomorrow’s meet. The field of eight powerful contenders will not be a piece of cake for the colt. The list of these strong competitors includes the fourth place finisher
of Oak Tree Derby, Sebestian Flyte, who Fantastic Pick beat by a distance of less than a length. Moreover, Haimish Hy, the fifth place finisher of Oak Tree Derby will also be starting the event on Sunday. The second place finisher of the Grade I Jamaica Handicap
that was run over the same surface and distance at Aqueduct as tomorrow’s start, Citrus Kid, will also complete the field.
Apart from the Hollywood Derby as one of the graded races to be run on Sunday in the United States, there is the Grade III Miesque Stakes. This particular event will be run over a distance of 1 mile on turf surface and will start at 11.37 GMT. The race is
open to fillies of ages three and above. This start will be the concluding event of the Autumn Turf Festival that spans over a period of three days.
The most prominent participants of this race are Wave of Applause and Holiday for Kitten. Wave of Applause has been training under the care of Jim Cassidy and will run in this race under the famed jockey Mike Smith. On the other hand, Joel Rosaria will be
aboard the other filly Holiday for Kitten who won her maiden race at Churchill Downs under the training of Wesley Ward.
