Horse Racing: Final Approach claims MCR Hurdle
The fans of horse racing witnessed some quality racing events today at Leopardstown. One of the races that really caught attention of all those involved in the horse business included the Grade B MCR Hurdle. The race was open to racehorses of age four and
above and was run over a distance of 2 miles.
The prestigious meeting was won by the talented racehorse Final Approach. The colt trains under the care of famed trainer Willie Mullins, who was once again in money after his trainee claimed the race at Leopardstown.
Final Approach did indeed give a spectacular performance in the race and thus managed to hold off a field of 26 strong contenders in the valuable race under the jockey Paul Townend.
The winner racehorse was then also flaunted by Pricewise’s Tom Segal. Segal has also been revealed to have highlighted the champion of the Welsh National meeting, Synchronised. Final Approach is a five-year-old colt owned by Douglas Taylor.
The runner up to the winner, Call The Police was sent out to contend the race as a 16-1 favourite with the sponsors, and returned home in the second place. He was held off by Final Approach by a distance of two lengths.
The third place was bagged by the racehorse Mutadarek. The colt trains under the care of trainer Joanna Morgan and was sent out as a 25-1 favourite. On the other hand, the 33-1 contender, Northern Alliance managed to finish the race in the fourth spot.
In a post race interview the delighted trainer said that he already knew that his colt will claim the event and everything happened as he had expected.
Talking to the correspondents about his future plans with the champion, he was reported as saying, “This was his Derby, as he’s not a big horse and is not really a prospective chaser. We’ll see what the handicapper does.”
He further went on to say, with regard to the future ventures of runner up Call The Police, “It was a h**l of a good run. He’ll stay over the hurdles this season, but chasing will be his game and we might step him up in trip as well.”
Meanwhile, Prima Vista, who was being considered a potential winner by those involved in the horse business, disappointed his fans and connections by finishing the race in the seventh place.
