Horse Racing: Final card at Cagnes to be run by fifteen horses
The Grand Prix du Conseil General des Alpes Maritimes (Listed), which is due to take place in France at Cagnes-sur-Mer on Saturday at 2.08 p.m. GMT, is a fixture held over a distance of 1 mile and 4 ½ furlongs and will be run on a turf surface. Only
horses four years of age and above are allowed to participate in this event.
Bridge Of Gold, a horse that is trained by Mikael Magnusson and will be ridden by Dominique Beouf in the race, is the only contender for the Grand Prix du Conseil General des Alpes Maritimes entered by Britain. The race is a feature event which is
to take place on the final day of the Cagnes-sur-Mer winter meeting held over a period of six weeks in the South of France.
Bridge Of Gold is currently five years in age and is ready and excited to enter the contest, set to rake in 64, 655 Euros, with a mere seven career starts under his name. The horse has not participated in a fixture since the peak of his career when
he finished third to Dirar in the Ebor Handicap at York last August.
There are fifteen other horses taking part in the race; among these Timos, trained by Thierry Doumen and ridden by Sylvian Ruis, is the most prominent. Timos has secured positions in two Group 2 races and has also taken part in both the Prix de l’Arc
de Triomphe and the Japan Cup during the 2010 racing season.
Just seventeen days ago, in an effort to start off his comeback with a bang, Timos tried and sadly failed to best four of the contenders of Saturday’s race over the same course and the same distance, and has been recovering from the shock of the defeat
since.
Another contestant who is a likely winner is Young Tiger who, despite his ironic name, is a seasoned racehorse trained by Francois Rohaut and will be ridden by Francois-Xavier Bertras. Young Tiger has won eight Listed races, including one in which
he just barely beat another of Saturday’s contenders, Dunaden at Toulouse last December.
